MTV's VMA….

Ok, Jimmy Fallon did a pretty good job hosting. I don’t know what his “thing” is, but in his Letterman appearance the other night, and in his post-show interview with Kurt Loder, he comes across as a guy with an untreated case of ADHD. But maybe it’s just him being a little nervous – whatever.
Britney Spears – wow, quite the outfit. Christina Aquilera (or however it’s spelt) – c’mon, you ho, what were you thinking? I could see your boobs, and your cheeks, but that was more than I ever wanted to see. Why, oh why did you do this to me??? And you’re not even all that. Or a bag of chips. Please, reconsider going out in public if thats what you’re gonna wear. Pink did okay, I guess, but it was a wee bit skimpy too – at least you’re not a total ho.
There were many rappin’ dudes wearing all manner of dress – what the heck were they thinking? Fur? On an eye patch? C’mon, B2k man…. it’s just plain wrong.
The presenters were your usual mix of people, but I did find it a bit odd that they had someone come on to introduce Rudi Guiliani, who then introduced Sheryl Crow – again, whatever, I guess.
My biggest gripe with the whole evening: Axl Rose, of Guns and Roses. He performed for the first time in like 4-5 years. Guess what? There’s a reason he hasn’t performed in so long. His voice is crap – either he’s got a cold, or he’s totally destroyed it. I think it was the latter – I seem to recall reading/hearing that he’s had problems. He did an abbreviated “Welcome to the Jungle”, and it just wasn’t the same – especially the scream at the beginning. I do give him massive props for coming back despite the fact that most of the original band is gone and he’s had to rebuild from scratch. Oh, and by the way… what the F was up with “Buckethead”? It might just be me, but I though he looked/acted a bit like Wes Borland, formerly of Limp Bizkit.
The highlight of the evening had to be the little “Moon man” bits they played before they introduced the nominees for each category. Very innovative and interesting.
