    Now that's a deal!

The TV Deal the NBA Wishes It Had Not Made – Los Angeles Times
Made 30 years ago by the owners of a team that folded after the ABA/NBA merger, it’s basically iron clad and making them a ton of money. Somebody planned ahead – and didn’t know it.

    Pull some shapes

YouTube – The Pipettes “Pull Shapes”
When I first got this link, I figured it would be usual YouTube fare. And it was.
But the video, which at first seems to just be a movie clip they stuck in for the video, actually seems to be the video for the song – so it’s either from some movie in the 60′s or a well done spoof video. Either way, it’s kind of enjoyable. The song is kinda “pop”-y, and spunky to boot.
Having just received confirmation that it’s an actual group and this is them having some fun. Nice.

What Britney's done for me lateley…

As you probably know by now, I have, in the past, been a big fan of Britney Spears. That’s changed a bit with her marraige to “K-Fed”, and the birth of their son Sean. But the underlying feelings are there – they’re just covered up with varying layers of disgust and disbelief.
Regardless, I bring you the following tidbit:
BrooklynPapers.com: OH MAMA! Nude Britney sculpture in Billyburg
Someone made an interesting statue of Britney “giving birth” to her son. It’s interesting, but I wonder how she feels about it.
In Britney related news, I’ve noticed quite a bit of traffic to this site, and more specifically to my “posts” category. Why? We’ll, it seems that many people are searching for Britney, and they’re using various image search engines. Aside from all the porn stars named Britney, there are various images on my site that have her name in the title, so they come up. It’s also a context thing – in amongst my posts on the topic, I’ve posted some photos of the lass. They are picked up by the search engines, and…. well, I’m sure you can figure it out.
The problem is that the link they travel to most – the “posts” category archive – is also 1.6 mb in size as I write this. That’s 1.6 mb of just text – that doesn’t include any of the photos that also come from my server, or images that go elsewhere. Now, I’m not complaining about the amount of the download as it relates to my bandwidth allocation – it’s more of a concern for the end user that they’re wasting their time.
If they’re looking for a photo of Britney, they shouldn’t have to read through all my posts to get to them. They probably don’t care, and honestly, they probably don’t even read them – they just scroll until they find the image. Some of them then link to it from their own website, which naturally brings about another set of isssues, but I’ve got plans in place to deal with that. But what do I do to get them to the photos they want and on their way quickly? And without taking a bandwidth hit?
Suggests are appreciated – I’m thinking maybe something that looks at each page that’s loaded (maybe just the category pages) to see if it’s a referal from a search engine, then it looks to see what the search terms are. Depending on that, it will then do something else – maybe take them to the Britney page instead?
In the meantime, I’ve just added “posts” to the robots.txt file, so it should stop getting indexed soon – and I’m hoping that by making this the first post on that page (at least for a day or two) that it will help alleviate some of the load.
    Thoughts? Comments?
